For someone that’s often praised for his ballsiness and fearlessness as a rapper, Eminem’s history of feuds or disses during his prime is surprisingly, or not depending on how you view it, one note.

A good portion of his most prolific disses have been against pop stars, which he has gained a reputation for at random dissing them in his songs pretty much since his mainstream breakthrough, being somewhat of a selling point for him.

Ranging from Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey, and even his own collaborative partner Rihanna. You’d be hard-pressed to find a popular female artist Eminem hasn’t dissed.

All of his peers were caught in the line of fire, and that includes Christina Aguilera, who had a messy showdown with Slim Shady.

In a perfect world, these two would never cross paths, but at the height of Eminem’s imperial phase, it seemed inevitable. His only other feud to make such a spectacle in pop history is the one he had with Mariah Carey.

Funnily enough, things didn’t start off bad between Eminem or Christina. In fact, it started off flirtatious.

Both Eminem and Christina Aguilera experienced their breakthroughs around the same time, obviously taking on totally different styles. Christina Aguilera rose to prominence in 1999 with the smash hit, “Genie in a Bottle.” Eminem emerged the same year as a force to be reckoned with with the “Slim Shady LP.” So they experienced their mainstream breakthroughs the exact same year.

And Christina made public passes towards Eminem, letting her crush be known loud and clear.

“I’m looking forward to meeting Eminem, actually. You wanna meet Eminem? Yeah, I wanna meet Eminem. I think he’s cute.”

“Wow. She’s cute, and I’ve heard little things that she said about me, or whatever, whatever. He’s actually, he’s actually been a crush of mine for a while now. Thank you very much.”

“First of all, I don’t even know if I want this award. I might just take Christina home tonight.”

Eminem had mutual feelings about her and also said she was cute. This was almost a pop romance. And there were actual rumors that they did date, but it was shot down by both parties.

Things took a turn for the worse once Christina mentioned the gruesome acts Eminem said about his former wife, Kim. But what’s not often mentioned is that Christina actually gushed over Eminem before mentioning his song.

Christina picked “My Name Is” as one of her favorite videos, said he had a cute face, and in the midst of clearing up dating rumors, she said she’s heard that he’s married to the girl he talked about often on his record.

“Eminem, My Name Is, because whenever this video came out, I think a lot of people woke up and were really taken aback. And I was like, ‘that’s cool that she picked my video. I heard he’s married now.'”

“Emiem? Yeah, totally. The girl that he talks about on his record, actually.”

Christina then went on to say that she felt some of the subject matter of his music was uncomfortable and took a hard stance against abusive relationships. And for those of you that don’t know Christina Aguilera and her history, she grew up in a household with an abusive dad, which she’s always been open about. So it makes sense why this particular subject would irk her.

Eminem acknowledged that he liked that she picked his video but did not take kindly to the rest of the things she said, including blasting that he was married and her views on domestic violence.

Eminem retaliated in classic Em fashion and decided that he was going to put Christina on blast with rumors he heard about her. In his classic Slim Shady song, he aims right at Christina’s head and even accuses her of giving him an STD.

“Yo, Christina Aguilera better switch me chairs so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst and hear him argue over who she gave head to first. Little B put me on blast on MTV. Yeah, he’s cute, but I think he’s married to Kim. Hehe, I should download her audio on MP3 and show the whole world how you gave Eminem VD.”

In another song called “Off The Wall,” he took a more violent angle and said,

“Causing terror to Christina Aguilera when I grab her by the hair and drag her across the Sahara. Beware of this rap terrorist with a therapist.”

And then of course, there was the iconic 2002 VMAs where Christina Aguilera, alongside Britney Spears, did an award presentation that included Eminem, where she blindly dissed him, saying, “anyways” once his name was brought up.

Christina never directly addressed Eminem again, but it was rumored that she responded in song with her 2002 hit “Can’t Hold Us Down,” alongside Lil’ Kim.

“So what am I not supposed to have an opinion? Should I keep quiet because I’m a woman? Call me a B because I
