Elon Musk allegedly has two bodyguards follow him everywhere around Twitter HQ, even to the restroom. So much to get into. That’s right, Elon Musk is accompanied by at least two bodyguards according to an engineer from the tech giant. I think I would personally need some privacy for some spaces, but it’s Anil Nawani reporting with all the details.

In a conversation with the BBC, the engineer, who asked to speak anonymously, said that Musk has bodyguards everywhere throughout the building of the social media company. While describing the guards, the employee said the bodyguards are bulky, tall, and they’re like straight out of a Hollywood movie.

Now, it’s definitely not uncommon, I would say, for CEOs and executives to have this type of security, but some were concerned the lengths these bodyguards are assigned to Musk. According to the BBC report, the engineer went on to say that the use of these bodyguards inside the Twitter HQ suggested a strong lack of trust within the company walls.

Recent photos have appeared online of these bodyguards following Musk on his ventures. Now, Elon Musk’s father Errol stated in January that he actually feared for Musk’s safety, even though he himself was protected by nearly 100 security guards. Recently, Musk upgraded his father’s security system for their home in South Africa with 24-hour armed guns, cameras, and even electric fences.

While this sounds extreme, many CEOs have been protecting their family members and others in their inner circle as of late. Mark Zuckerberg of Meta was actually handed a security allowance for the 2023 fiscal year. The CEO of the tech giant was given a $14 million amount according to a recent disclosure with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This filing was to cover staff, equipment, and even residential improvements for the safety of his family.

Now moving back to Musk, the CEO went on to say that owning Twitter probably wouldn’t increase his life expectancy in the long run. This tweet was actually in response to a user saying that Musk should quote, “add more security guards to your team.”

Now all of these security details came into question back in December of 2022 when Musk’s security team stated that quote, “a crazy stalker jumped on a car carrying his son in Los Angeles.” Musk tweeted about the incident, but this was later dismissed after South Pasadena police found that a suspect in question was actually not following Musk’s security team.

And this all of course comes right after Twitter claims it is no longer able to protect users and even Elon Musk’s from trolling on the platform. Due to Twitter’s layoffs under his control, content moderators and former employees stated that the key features to protect Twitter users from harassment are now extremely difficult to maintain. Those features from the past actually reduced trolling by 60%, according to an internal research previously conducted by Twitter, and now the company infrastructure seems to now be a nightmare from the inside.

Maybe this is a heightened reason that Musk has brought on more security as the platform has been under so much scrutiny.
