Hey Braimunchers, it’s your helpful zombie here to show you how to use crossplay in State of Decay 2.

So let’s start by saying that if you’re just beginning or have never used multiplayer in State of Decay, you have to first turn on multiplayer. Simply follow the steps you see here by going into settings and turning on multiplayer. Make sure you tick the relative options if you’re wanting to host a game and if you want your friends to be able to hop in whenever they see you playing.

So even if you own the Steam version, you do have to sign in with your live account and if you have friends playing on Xbox or the companion software, they need to be added. As you can see, you just click on go to Xbox and you’ll be able to find your friends here. After you’ve added them, they’ll pop up in your friends list to the right when you hit escape on your game and choose send invite.

Now here’s where most may have a problem. I don’t know if this is a bug or not, but when a Steam player sends an invite, the Xbox player is not getting said invite if they’re using the Xbox companion app on PC. I have tried this with several people and those using the PC while using the companion app to play do not receive it, but there is a workaround. The companion app user has to go to your profile on the Xbox software and from there they can see that you’re in a joinable game. If they click join, they’ll simply be added to your game.

By the way, if you’re using another way to voice outside of the game, I suggest you mute your friends or you’ll hear double and it’s really annoying.

So what if you’re a Steam player trying to join your Xbox friend in their game? For some reason, everything works flawlessly and here’s how we do that. When your Xbox friend invites you, you’ll receive a notification and you can find the invite when you hit escape and go to multiplayer. The notification will be right at the top. If you’re on the actual Xbox console and your Steam friend invites you to play, you do get a notification and the invite works normally.

Again, I have no idea if this is a bug, but I wanted to make sure I shared how we can get around this so you can still play State of Decay 2 with your Steam friends.

I hope you found this video helpful and if so, please consider hitting the thumbs up and subscribing if you’re not already. Let me know if you’re enjoying the new map. What’s your favorite base so far? I’m playing the heck out of this game wandering around and as that’s pretty much my favorite thing to do, also hoarding. Lots and lots of hoarding.

Thank you guys so much for watching. I appreciate each and every one of you. I’m ZombieGirl and I will see you later. Bye!
